Pain, Recovery and Realisation of Self

It'll be a week tomorrow since I had my op and the recovery is progressing with some words being spoken today with a little pain. The frustration level has hit all time highs with the cravings for non-mushy, cool foods (catch-cry has been
I NEED STEAK!)increasing everytime Mr Grump eats something nice for dinner or lunch. I have had to spend a lot of time in the past week not speaking and therefore listening to the inner voice - which has'nt been too bad as the pain in my jaw, my tongue and throat have been consuming the majority of my concentration.

Liquid Paracetamol is effective for a relatively short period of time (4 hours initially) with overly sugary vanilla/strawberry flavour which induce children to imbibe but me (a sweettooth) to go, hmmm just work quickly please...
Everyone has been absolutely lovely sending me well wishes and even recipes for mushy savoury food (soup). Mr Grump has been an angel worrying, fussing without fussing, and being patient while I cry from frustration or write incredibly long messages about short subjects and buying mushy cool food which is quite good for me but quite naughty at the same time (King Island Vanilla Bean Yoghurt to begin with!)
I had a lovely message from Francesca in Fiji - Jealousy was roiling around me as I looked at the absolutely beautiful Pacific scenery - (one day it'll be us), what a wonderful opportunity for her to experience medicine in 'island time'. I hope she has lots of stories with pointing at bodily parts included.

Post Coronation and Dead Egyptians

I am glad to say that I survived travelling to Sydney for Coronation and had a super time despite the usual sleep deprivation caused by noise and too much ambient light and direct light from the motel's security lighting. CURSES!!

Coronation was wonderful in the great Australian tradition of parks, trees and food. Everyone was delightful and it was finally great to say hi to people that may wear funny pointy hats once or twice a year. It was wonderful to see the ceremony that entails Coronation with myself, Kol and Harald swearing fealty as part of the populace to the new K & Q. I love the red cloaks that House Drakkar got given and therefore have featured them in my blog photo. The get-together at the pub later on was good and the beer was welcomed even more. Spent far too much money which is not good for the relationship between Mr Grump and I - oh well, add it to the list.
After coming home from Coronation, I had 2 days to recover and wash and maintain garb before we left for Canberra and the Egyptian exhibition from the Lourve. The trip was non-eventful even after thinking I had left my wallet at home and could'nt do any of the driving - but after a break at Canowindra I found it in the glove box. PHEWWW. We arrived in Canberra safely and after a very tense hissy fit in which map books were thrown we found our accomodation and checked in and checked out the exhibition. Which only took an hour to look at and 5 minutes to dismiss the TACKY souvenirs - what a load guff. Had a coffee at the gallery - atrocious.
By this time we both needed a nap, so back to the hotel for a nana nap - refreshed we tackled Manuka and its restaurant strip. After a walk around found the first restaurant we passed and got a table. - fantastic food, great wait staff. Beluchi's is the name.
After dinner, drove to Fyshwick - enough said. Drove to hotel, sleepppppp.
Trip home, less eventful. Good to have my own bed again.
Worked today, was a shit fight with the oven breaking down again and some little shithead person working not being very helpful..slightly arrogant.

call me cynical...

call me cynical but is New Year's Eve another commercial venture these days? Last night I was happy to go to bed before midnight safe in the knowledge that I had made another 74$ working at the Deli.
Mr Grump and I had a lovely dinner and dessert, re-adjusted the wishlist and to do list for 2007 (SCA schtuff not included as that is solely mine to do) and played Euchre and Rummy. Whilst at work strangely enough I was placed in the position of confidant to a girl that works there - all politics yet again which I try to avoid especially being the Newbie on the Block(tm). But, this is a scenario that pops up wherever I go - it must be the trust me look in my eyes..deceptive at the best of times..
To think that this time next week I will be in Sydney with Kol and Harald playing dress-ups and having wonderful food...I think its going to be a full-on weekend with not a lot of sleep to be had.
oh well.. Finished the blue florentine and now working on a caftan that I drafted the pattern for and everything...
Anyway, HAPPY NEW YEAR and I wish whoever and whatever a safe, non-secular, non-gender specific glorious successful ( in whatever fashion) 2007.
